The BIG Reveal: As The Dust Settles

As promised here are the seven artworks I slaved over for seven months. That's a long time I hear you say. For something that most people will very likely not fully grasp or understand. I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone, that is not my intention at all.

I can tell you in all honesty that; a lot of doubting, second guessing, loving, hating and a whole range of thoughts and emotions went into these photographs.

I worked hard on each one of them. Some I was lucky with and others I had to beat into submission, but at the end of the day I am very proud of what I have created and I want to thank The Ocean Doesn't Want Me for the opportunity. It was an honor and privilege to do this for a band (and three guys) I respect a helluva lot.

Here's the lowdown:
1. There will be Forty-Two prints in total. That is six per song (character). Yes, I know I said seven in a previous post, but I changed my mind.
2. The prints will be A3 in size.
3. Prices are R105.00 per print.
4. I'll be taking pre-orders (for those interested) from next week Monday.

I think that's about it. Thanks to everyone whom has waited patiently.
I hope it was worth it.

See you all at the Pretoria Launch 21-04-2012 at Schivas Rock.

It Draws Near

So, tonight was one of my last meetups with "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me" to discuss the artwork for the upcoming album.

Five out of seven images have been selected, one is in limbo (for now) and then I still have one left which I hope to shoot tomorrow night. Then we'll meet up one last time to go over the final two and then it'll be off to the printers. Other than that, the guys and I are really happy.

Nerves have mostly been replaced by excitement now that we're in the final stages. I'm super, super stoked for everyone to see this. I know I keep saying that, but I truly am.

Here's a shot or two that didn't make the final cut.

In Studio #3: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

It's been some time since I've done a post on what's been happening in regards to "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me's" recording.

The guys are still at it, which is good for me, because that gives me more time to do the artwork. I'm still busy and have the next 3 songs'/characters' shots planned (or so I hope). I am however beginning to doubt and question myself with some of the already finished images, but isn't that always the issue?

Maybe I should do this or try that?! Maybe I should, or perhaps I should just be happy with the damn pieces. We'll see... For now though, here are some shots of CF in studio, laying down the guitar tracks.

Bands: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

They have got to be one of my favorite bands in the world. Not only are they the raddest, most down to earth bunch of guys, they make some of the most beautiful music and I love photographing them so expect to see some more shots of them up here in the months to follow.

If you're not doing anything tonight, come to Black Dahlia in Boksburg where they'll be playing along with Hokum, Bile of Man and All Forlorn. Here's the event page.

Enjoy
