Bands: Make-Overs

It's been a while since I've done a post on bands.

Last week Friday saw the launch of Make-Overs' new album with a Skyline on Fire and Eyes Like Mirrors. The latter 2 bands I've posted some pics of before.

I remember seeing them about 3 years ago (when I had just moved to Pretoria) as they're previous incarnation, "Sticky Antlers". I was quite intrigued by this noisy band and then I didn't see them for a number of years in which time they changed they're name to "Make-Overs".

Go check out they're Facebook page here.

Back in 2008 they were a four-piece, but now it's just Andreas on guitar and vocals and Martinique on drums and vocals and I must say I enjoy they're sound. It's dirty, lo-fi, noisy rock and it's awesome.

Here are some pics  I took of them and the other bands playing that evening.

The Divine Prism

Been helping my awesomely talented friend (Lizanne Visser) out with a project of hers.

I wish I could tell you more about the concept, but I haven't delved deeper into the recesses of her mind yet, so a second post on this will have to happen soon.

For now though, here are some of the pictures of light refracting through prisms.
I love how one source of light spreads out into many when it passes through the prisms. It's quite beautiful what gets created.

100 Strangers

So recently I mentioned a little BIG project I want to undertake called a "100 Strangers".

I haven't officially started yet, but here's a shot I took of a meat packer sitting in the back of his truck waiting. Enjoy

Bands: Vampire9000

It's been a while since I've posted anything.

I felt like I needed to wait for something more "worthwhile" to blog about and today is that day.

After practice at Warren's place today I got home and checked my emails and lo and behold I saw an email from "Vampire9000". Who is that you may ask?

It's the brainchild of Christiaan Henn. I don't know Christiaan all to well, apart from taking some photos at a gig in 2009 of the previous incarnation of VK9, so it came as quite a surprise that he would email me.

Now I don't want to divulge too much information, but he asked if he could use some of these photos I had taken on that faithful August night. Go find out more about this cool solo project here.

And then do yourselves a favor and go download his 3 track EP "Colours" here.
GO! NOW!

Hands

I like photographing hands.
Especially whilst they're creating something.

I took this photo at the local Spar in my area of a street performer. I wanted to start a conversation with him to get his story, but he was doing his thing, so I'll leave it for another day.
