I'm Outta Here

I'm leaving for Mozambique on Saturday with my girlfriend and her family.

Pretty stoked for it :) And after that I'm heading to the coast to visit my family in Port Elizabeth, so I'll most likely see you guys in the new year, hopefully with some stories and photographs to share.

I leave you with a two in one image I took last night whilst strolling around my apartment block. This is the 5th floor.
Have a rad holiday and be safe.

The Ocean Doesn't Want Me - Album Art

So, I bet some of you have been dying to see the album art for the upcoming T.O.D.W.M. album?

Well, you're going to have to wait a little longer. I'm not done yet and I've decided to keep it on the lowdown and so, it'll only be revealed with the album, but do not despair, I have cropped some little details from the five images I have.

These may or may not be the final ones, you'll have to wait and see.

Innocence of Youth

What it is to be a kid...

Centurion - 2011

Saw this little guy when I was visiting my friend this past weekend. He was just peering over the wall, so I grabbed my camera and snapped this shot! Have a few others, but I liked this one the most.

Weddings #2: Sandro & Giselle (20-08-2011)

Weddings #1: Jandre & Stefanie (13-08-2011)

So, I've deleted the Facebook album with some of my wedding stuff.

I figured I might as well just post it here, to make things easier, so here come a few posts with some of my favorite images from the past 3 months.

Thankful

Sometimes I'm an ungrateful brat and I have to "slow" myself down and just take a step "out" of myself and look at things from a different perspective, kind of like I'm looking at things from someone else's view on my life.

Now I dunno who this someone else is, but I know that it helps when he "slaps" some sense into me.

I recently acquired a new, old toy in the form of an old Nikon 70-210mm lens. It's a great little telephoto lens and opens some new possibilities for my photography. Sure, it's not the fastest lens out there and it's ancient, but it does a good job and I'm digging it.

My point is though that I sometimes forget why I love taking photos or playing music et cetera, but the simple truth is just that it brings me joy, I dunno how or why, it just does and I hope that never goes away.

Here's a moon shot I managed to take the other night. It's a very "simple" shot, but I like it.

Busy: Kind Of

So, I've finally made myself do some editing on wedding photos. Working from home isn't always that great. Yeah, sure I save on petrol et cetera, but I have way to many distractions some days.

That being said; it is my own fault and today I have actually edited some stuff. Yeah!!

I really want to share more with everyone on "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me" stuff, but I've decided to keep it under wraps and only reveal details of shots (if anything at all). That way it's a big surprise when the album releases.

For the time being, here are random snaps. See if you can spot why the title; "Black Cat" for the 1st image and the second one is from The Ocean Doesn't Want Me's show at Schivas Rock last week. The first show of them in over 3 years I haven't photographed. I just listened and took in the music.

Good times...

Procrastinating

What an awful thing to do.

Why not occupy my time with other more important stuff? I rather sit around and wonder about the important stuff and then I go do something else, "more interesting".

In other "news"; I did my first magazine shoot today. It was straight forward. Not something I'd pursue as a career, but if it brings in a few bucks and allows me to do what I prefer then why not?

Anyway, lets see if I can start this month off good and finish it even better and maybe even grow a mustache.

Just Because #2: Month End

This is just a filler post to make up for my tardiness this month!

I haven't done much, (went away for five days to visit the family and get inspiration) been busy with other things. Wondering about and doubting, ideas, concepts, photographs that I thought were done and now I look at them and I'm like; "what the hell are these things"?

Second guessing yourself sucks! I'm currently pulling out my hair over "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me" art for their album. Do I like these images and more importantly, do they? Shit needs to get done though! Make things work for me and not wait for them to work! That's what I need to do.

Anyway, here are some snaps from a while back.

In Studio #3: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

It's been some time since I've done a post on what's been happening in regards to "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me's" recording.

The guys are still at it, which is good for me, because that gives me more time to do the artwork. I'm still busy and have the next 3 songs'/characters' shots planned (or so I hope). I am however beginning to doubt and question myself with some of the already finished images, but isn't that always the issue?

Maybe I should do this or try that?! Maybe I should, or perhaps I should just be happy with the damn pieces. We'll see... For now though, here are some shots of CF in studio, laying down the guitar tracks.

Breinmasjien

So last week saw the opening of my friend (Maaike Bakker's) exhibition, titled "Breinmasjien" at +27 Cafe in Hatfield. Shame on you if you haven't gone and checked it out yet.

It is up until the 25th of October I believe, so go and spend some of your hard earned cash on some awesome sketches and prints.

To add to the visual awesomeness of her work, my friends in a Skyline on Fire also gave our ears some pleasure on the evening. Here are some snaps from the evening.
