Just Because #2: Month End

This is just a filler post to make up for my tardiness this month!

I haven't done much, (went away for five days to visit the family and get inspiration) been busy with other things. Wondering about and doubting, ideas, concepts, photographs that I thought were done and now I look at them and I'm like; "what the hell are these things"?

Second guessing yourself sucks! I'm currently pulling out my hair over "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me" art for their album. Do I like these images and more importantly, do they? Shit needs to get done though! Make things work for me and not wait for them to work! That's what I need to do.

Anyway, here are some snaps from a while back.

In Studio #3: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

It's been some time since I've done a post on what's been happening in regards to "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me's" recording.

The guys are still at it, which is good for me, because that gives me more time to do the artwork. I'm still busy and have the next 3 songs'/characters' shots planned (or so I hope). I am however beginning to doubt and question myself with some of the already finished images, but isn't that always the issue?

Maybe I should do this or try that?! Maybe I should, or perhaps I should just be happy with the damn pieces. We'll see... For now though, here are some shots of CF in studio, laying down the guitar tracks.

Breinmasjien

So last week saw the opening of my friend (Maaike Bakker's) exhibition, titled "Breinmasjien" at +27 Cafe in Hatfield. Shame on you if you haven't gone and checked it out yet.

It is up until the 25th of October I believe, so go and spend some of your hard earned cash on some awesome sketches and prints.

To add to the visual awesomeness of her work, my friends in a Skyline on Fire also gave our ears some pleasure on the evening. Here are some snaps from the evening.

Just Because #1

Sometimes (most of the time) I'm a lazy bastard!

I love photography, I love playing music, but I'm not an avid fan of working to improve these God given talents. Why is that?

Today I cleaned my apartment. I hate doing it, but who wants to live in a place where the mold becomes a living creature, becomes your roommate, gets a job and pays half the rent? Hmm... Idea? Nah... That's a little weird.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is you've got to do the little things to make the bigger (little) things worthwhile, or something in that regard. I look around me everyday and I see amazing artists, musicians, photographers (some whom are my friends and some whom I'll probably never meet) and I ask myself how they do it? Hard f*cking work, is how.

I am however at a stage where the work is becoming a little more fun and interesting, not because it magically got this way, but because I'm choosing (or trying) to make it that way.
I learn from it everyday, which is rad.

That's my little rant.
