Wow! So, Rebel Alliance was amazingly fun and awesome!
The photos for the remix of Vampire 9000's Colours were all awesome and inspirational. Great work from a great bunch of photographers and I'm honoured to have been a part of it all.
Thank you again Ben, Christiaan and to The Bioscope Independent Cinema (what a special little place).
I hope to be part of it again real soon.
A BIG thanks to my friends Vaughan and Lizanne for being part of it and for letting me boss them around with the photo-shoot. Love you kids! Also thank you to Warren, Dawie, Nicole, Maaike, Werner, Marina and Dan and whomever I might have forgotten. Thanks!!
For those of you who missed out, here are some of the photos that I contributed to the evening.
PS: The entire set is up on my onesmallseed page if you're interested.

The Ocean Doesn't Want Me: As The Dust Settles
Some of you may not know this yet, but in less than a month it is the launch of The Ocean Doesn't Want Me's second full length album.
It's been a long road for the guys and I'd like to think I've traveled quite a bit of that road with them, from going to gigs, taking photos, hearing the new songs in they're infant stages to doing the artwork for the upcoming album to where we are now; has been a tough journey, but it's so close now I can almost feel the music vibrating through my bones.
So, as a treat I have decided to post the artwork for the song, titled; "Van Eyck" which they released online this past week. You can go and have a listen to it here.
You can also read all the info as to where the album was recorded and mastered, so I'll spare you the details.

Sneak Peak: Rebel Alliance 5: The Empire Strikes Out
Here's a little preview of my concept for Vampire9000's remix of "Colours".
If you don't yet know what I'm talking about, then why don't you read what I so painstakingly type, huh?!
This Saturday 24 March 2012 at the Bioscope Independent Cinema is Rebel Alliance 5: The Empire Strikes Out. Myself and 5 other photographers are doing a music video made up of photographs for the above mentioned V9K song. There are bands, and an illustration/animation mash up with 20 animators.
Go check out Ben Rausch's, So Many Animal Calls blog for more info on the previous events and Saturday's. It's going to be AWESOME. So says RAWKUS TORTOISE!!

Planes Mistaken For Stars
Just had a random idea to combine an image from 2010 and one I took and used yesterday in a post.
The title is from a post-hardcore band that broke up in 2008.
Anyway, here's the result.

Rebel Alliance
For those of you who don't know what "Rebel Alliance" is; where have you been?
Although I haven't had the privilege of going to one of the events hosted by, Illustrator, VJ, DJ extraordinaire Mr Ben Rausch, that is all about to change. The 24th of March sees the 5th installment of this awesome event.
Here's a brief little introduction: Jozi's only music/ animation/ live-performance/film/ illustration mash-up night returns! With a lineup that celebrates the release of new local music, features a performance from one of JHB's most-loved live acts and debuts three new collaborative projects that pool the super-powers of more than 50 creatives! Strap yourselves in for interstellar adventure on Saturday the 24th of March.
Not only am I going to be there, I am part of the evening and am currently brainstorming ideas for the evening. Other collaborators are Hanro Havenga whom I've mentioned here before and Olivia Mortimer. Two super rad photographers whose work I'm super envious of and inspired by, so I am busting my brain juices out of my skull to think of some cool ideas.
Here are the posters for the event. Consider me excited!
Hope to see you kids there.

Memory Lane
Today, instead of working I've been sifting through the "archives".
It's rad sometimes digging through old photos and finding such cool memories and moments caught on camera. Photos you thought had no significance, all of a sudden look different, as if someone else is viewing them.
I like that about photography. It's like when you hate a shot and someone else looks at it and points out all the things you missed whilst looking at it. I guess that's one of the reasons I like photography. Sometimes the mundane can be the most thought provoking and powerful.
That's my little trip down memory lane.

Stars For Eyes: Update #2
Soon there'll be a new incarnation of "Stars For Eyes".
We're nearing completion.
We are super stoked.
Finalizing lyrics on songs and we'll be out in the world sooner than you may believe, so be ready. Spread the word.
