Floating

Lately I've been bombarded with a lot of people and things floating in mid-air type photographs, so in an effort to learn something new, I've been messing around for the last hour or so and this is the result.

Nothing special, but be sure I'll be experimenting with this quite a bit more :) I've still got a crap load more to learn, but that is what I want and this has given me my first step in to a project I've been wanting to do for the last year or so.

More on that soon hopefully.

Whoa... Would you look at that?

Bouwer Bosch

So, last week Friday saw the launch of Bouwer Bosch's solo album "Almal Maak Voute". (Foute being purposefully spelled with a "V" instead of an "F"). It was held at our little church 3rd place in Hatfield.

Just an intimate show with Bouwer and Wynand, the keyboardist playing some songs off of the album and Bouwer telling the stories behind each song, coupled with some bad jokes (just teasing), made it  a fun filled evening.

For some more info, you can go look at his Facebook page here.
Here are some shots from the evening.

Driving Home

Driving home from the studio yesterday.

Stars For Eyes: Update #1

Those who know me, know that Warren and I have been busy with our EP for the past 3 years.

It's been a long and winding road with A LOT of trials, losing our work and having to start from scratch again, but we've made it through all of that and we're approaching the end of this particular journey.
We're currently back in studio, putting finishing touches to the EP. We've still got some work cut out for ourselves though.

There are a few ideas in the pipeline and as soon as the EP is done we'll probably start work on finishing the full-length. But that's a whole other story.

Market on Main

Yesterday I went to Market on Main or "Arts on Main" as it's also known with Nicole and her folks. Go check out her blog and Facebook page here and here. She's awesome!

I took a few snaps. Saw this rad old Citroën in the road and just had to photograph it. It reminds of Ryan Schude's project "Vehicles". You can go look on his Flickr page here. It's pretty rad!

Here are my two shots, taken with my new 20mm f2.8 :) Not as cool as Ryan's, but I dig it.

The Tallest Man On Earth

So on Saturday the 11th of February I went to watch "The Tallest Man On Earth" with Nicole at the Johannesburg Theater.

Not knowing the music all that well I was kinda going in blindly, only having listened to songs scattered in my playlist. It was a rad show to say the least. I'm not accustomed to sitting and watching live music, but I did enjoy it.

I wish I had the opportunity to photograph the show, but I did take some shots from my seat in the Mezzanine. Just wish I'd taken my 70-210mm lens to get some closer shots. Seeing as I didn't though; here's a shot that I very much like.

Just Because #2

A City In The Sky

Stars For Eyes

Some of you may know that Warren and I have a band and that we've been working on our EP and a full length for the last 3 years now.

It's been a bumpy road (but good) and we're always busy with it in some way or form. We've gotten back in to a rehearsal routine, we're ironing out some kinks in new songs (and some old) and we'll be heading in to studio if all goes well this month to finish up some things.

Then we'd like to introduce you kind folks out there to our music in the form of some live shows. I'll be keeping you in the loop as things progress.
