Bands: Mazaru

So, this is way overdue as I saw these guys in March. (Sorry about that Vincent).

My memory fails me as to what exactly they sound like. I just recall as I was busy getting ready to take photos and they started they're first song that I thought, this could be interesting.

The first track started off, for lack of a better explanation very pretty and then proceeded to blow my head apart, which was the intention I think. I'll have to see them play again sometime soon, so I can give a better write-up, but until then you can go have a look around on they're Facebook page here.

People

I'm in the process of a little BIG project I want to do, called 100 strangers. It's something I spotted on Guy Prives' site and that I am now quite keen to try as I'm kinda shy when it comes to photographing people, but I wanna be removed from my comfort zone and I think this is a good way of doing so. It's not just about photographing a person, but also to get a little story about them and who they are.

I'll post about it as soon as I get started. I think it'll be a year long project, but I'll work all of that out when the time comes.

Here are a few portrait shots I've taken of friends and strangers.

Bands: Sesling

Things happen, band members leave and then? Then you're left to carry on the good fight.

They hadn't played live in a year, because of the above mentioned factors, until about 3 months ago and I was unfortunately not able to go check them out. They are currently writing new material as far as I know and looking for a bassist.

If you're in to bands like Every Time I Die, He is Legend then hit them up, here.

The following photos are from shows in 2009 and 2010 with the original line-up.

In Studio #2: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

Man, this week has felt really long, which is weird, coz it wasn't at all. On Monday and Tuesday I was in studio with  Beastie as he was laying down the bass parts for the new album.

It was super rad and things are beginning to come together quite awesomely and I can't wait for CF to get in there and lay down the guitar parts.

Sunday, I'll be going on a little scouting mission for the first piece of the album art which is The Father. I'll hopefully post more on the progress in the weeks to come. Here are the pics from earlier this week.

Grain

Some technical mumbo jumbo... A filler post. Busy editing. Enjoy.

Grain (or noise, as it is also referred to) is the random variation of brightness or color information in images produced by the sensor and circuitry of a scanner or digital camera. Yes! I did take that from Wikipedia, because I don't know how to explain it myself.

Not everyone likes "noisy" images, but sometimes it just works with the feel of the photograph and what you're capturing. Here are some of my favorites.

In Studio #1: The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

So as you all know by now "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me" are in studio; recording their much anticipated follow-up, to 2008's "Which I Hope To Live For".

Myself and the guys met up on Wednesday to discuss the album art et cetera. Now I'm just planning, and ironing out my concepts for the images before I get started.

Here are some outtakes from last week Sunday and yesterday. More to come soon.
